The formation of KORIKA is part of Indonesia's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (Stranas KA), which was launched on August 10, 2020. The Stranas KA document, specifically Chapter 8, point 3, states the need for an organization to orchestrate the quadruple helix collaboration ecosystem (government, industry, academia, and community). KORIKA is mentioned as the orchestrator on page 187. Through an initiative by BPPT, an artificial intelligence innovation center (PIKA) was established to implement the eight main activities of Stranas KA through working groups (POKJA). Working Group 1 is responsible for the formation of KORIKA. KORIKA was established on August 10, 2021, as an organization that is inclusive, professional, transparent, adaptive, agile, independent, and based on value creation for all stakeholders.
